FSG's Rotary Encoder program currently comprises several series with housing diameters ranging from 22 mm to 100 mm, as well as numerous customer-specific special versions with diameters from 13 mm to 125 mm. The housing is typically made of durable anodized aluminum; many models are also optionally available with a stainless steel housing. A hallmark of FSG is the wide variety of options, covering both analog and digital interfaces.

In the rail transport and vehicle manufacturing sectors, applications include driving and braking switches for speed control, undercarriages for load detection and level control, and systems for positioning and measuring overhead lines. In agricultural technology, FSG Rotary Encoders can be used for height control of spraying systems, as well as for detecting the mower position, for measuring material flow in combine harvesters, and generally wherever feedback on wheelbase position is required for steering.

MH613 – compact and programmable

With a housing length of 36 mm, the MH613 series Rotary Encoders are also suitable for applications where installation space is limited. They are available in single-turn or multi-turn versions (for up to 16 revolutions). The measuring system is magnetic and therefore contactless. Signal settings can be easily programmed via a membrane keypad on the rear of the housing; signal outputs are available in 4–20 mA or 0–10 V versions.

MH1023 – the robust all-rounder

Maximum application flexibility is the fundamental concept behind this Rotary Encoder model from FSG. The MH1023 series can be equipped with all common analog and digital interfaces, as well as virtually any desired connector or cable connection. FSG also offers single-turn and multi-turn versions (for up to 4096 revolutions), with a standard aluminum housing or optional stainless steel housing. The signal output can be reprogrammed by the user.

The MH1023-Ex variant with ATEX or IECEx approval is designed for operation in potentially explosive atmospheres (single-turn only). A typical application example is found in agricultural technology: Here, the MH1023-Ex Rotary Encoder has been used for many years as a reliable and precise component for level measurement in biogas plants. For maritime applications, FSG has developed a customer-specific version with DNV approval that also operates reliably under harsh operating conditions.

Special designs and individual configurations are possible.

All models share a robust design with high IP protection (up to IP69k) and a long service life. Many of the encoders are also certified for use in specific application areas, such as with ATEX, IECEx, or DNV approval, or as redundant sensors for safety-critical applications.

Furthermore, FSG offers its customers the option of individually configured devices based on its broad product portfolio, precisely tailored to their desired specifications. Thanks to its high level of vertical integration, the sensor technology expert can also produce prototypes, one-off pieces, or small production runs quickly.
