We are a leading supplier and manufacturer of measurement and sensor technology. The group develops joysticks, tilt sensors, and many other components for almost all industrial sectors. For 75 years, the company has concentrated its expertise at its headquarters in Berlin. Together with three other plants in Brandenburg and Hesse, FSG employs more than 500 people.
The development engineers at FSG Fernsteuergeräte have once again set new standards in sensor technology and surpassed their own previous benchmarks: The miniature Rotary Encoder of the MH609y-II-CAN series not only offers maximum functionality for a wide range of customer applications, but is now also available as the MH609y-II-MU-i in a version with two analog signal outputs for 4-20 mA. With a diameter of 22.2 mm and a housing length of approximately 41 mm, it is the smallest redundant magnetic Rotary Encoder in the FSG portfolio. This makes it particularly suitable for use in position detection in very confined installation spaces. With this expanded functionality, FSG is further developing the MH609y-II series. Housed in a robust and compact casing, the new miniature analog Rotary Encoder features a redundant Hall sensor with a resolution of 12 bits, capable of detecting an angular range of 0 to 360°. Housed in an IP65-rated anodized aluminum casing, the smallest Rotary Encoder in its class is ideally suited to the demands of outdoor and offshore applications in ships, rail vehicles, and construction and agricultural machinery: It is shock-resistant up to 25 g (6 ms) and vibration-proof up to 4 g (sine wave, 5-100 Hz). The operating temperature range is -40 to +85 °C. The development originated from a previous customer solution for a small Rotary Encoder with a downstream CAN bus signal converter. FSG subsequently developed the MH609y-II-CAN series, a more economical and compact solution without additional separate converters. Signal output is provided via two CAN bus interfaces using the CANopen protocol. Recently, this miniature Rotary Encoder, with otherwise identical dimensions and functional characteristics, was expanded to include a version with two signal outputs for 4-20 mA. Whether analog or digital, Stefan König, Sales Manager at FSG Remote Control Devices, sees many application possibilities for the device series: “The Rotary Encoders of the MH609y-II series are primarily used for joysticks, throttles, ship control transmitters, and position feedback devices, because space is always critical in these applications. At the same time, the trend is toward utilizing the space savings achieved through miniaturization by integrating additional functions into control devices for vehicles and machinery.” In principle, all FSG standard Rotary Encoders can be adapted to customer-specific requirements in terms of their electrical interfaces and mechanical design. Thus, the next stage of innovation for FSG sensors is usually just a customer inquiry away.
