We are a leading supplier and manufacturer of measurement and sensor technology. The group develops joysticks, tilt sensors, and many other components for almost all industrial sectors. For 75 years, the company has concentrated its expertise at its headquarters in Berlin. Together with three other plants in Brandenburg and Hesse, FSG employs more than 500 people.

FSG operating devices have become established in many industrial sectors, and this also applies to their foot pedals. Their variants are as diverse as their applications: in construction machinery, mobile cranes, port cranes, special-purpose vehicles, and agricultural and forestry equipment. A unique feature is the housing, which is only 16 mm thick and integrates the electronics based on a magnetic Hall sensor.

This means that FSG foot pedals not only differ significantly in appearance from the often bulky devices of other manufacturers, but also offer users a design advantage with several benefits: The space requirement in the lower installation area is minimal, the device requires fewer components and fasteners; assembly effort is reduced, and the susceptibility to errors is lowered. Furthermore, the flat housing is easier to integrate into compact machine designs where installation space is limited. FSG has been developing the Hall sensor measuring system since the early 2000s. It has not completely replaced the previous inductive system: Some customers still order and use it.

Robust construction, designed for a long service life

Further features of FSG foot pedals include their robust construction, durable design, and high reliability. The metal housings are IP67 rated. Many large construction machines operate continuously 24/7 and require control devices that function flawlessly even under harsh working conditions and over extended periods. With functional safety in mind, the foot pedals are available with a redundant measuring system, making them suitable for safety-critical applications.

Which pedal, and in which design, is mounted on the flat platform depends on the intended use and/or customer requirements. Typical configurations include accelerator pedal, rocker pedal, or brake pedal. Special designs, such as those with a detent function, kickdown, or a mechanical switch, are also possible.

Virtually all conceivable movements can be controlled with FSG foot pedals: the slewing mechanism and bucket on an excavator, the swiveling of the boom on mobile cranes, the gripper arm control on forestry machines, or the precise fertilizer metering in agricultural spreaders – to name just a few examples.

Prepared for all common interfaces

A typical feature of FSG products is the wide variety of possible interfaces with which a foot pedal can be equipped. Users can choose from a wealth of connectors, cables, and connection options, both analog and digital, and compatible with all internationally recognized industry standards. Available signal outputs include 4–20 mA, 0–10 V, CAN/CANopen/CANopen-safety. The latter allows for the implementation of further signal outputs, such as J1939, an interface important for the agricultural sector, among others.

The same applies to FSG foot pedals: customers receive a high-quality, durable device that perfectly meets their requirements.
