We are a leading supplier and manufacturer of measurement and sensor technology. The group develops joysticks, tilt sensors, and many other components for almost all industrial sectors. For 75 years, the company has concentrated its expertise at its headquarters in Berlin. Together with three other plants in Brandenburg and Hesse, FSG employs more than 500 people.

After a long hiatus, the European trade fair scene is finally back in action. FSG Fernsteuergeräte also seized the opportunity and exhibited at several trade fairs in its core industries. Highlights included the InnoTrans trade fair for transport technology in September, the bauma mining and construction machinery trade fair at the end of October, and finally, the SPS trade fair for automation in mid-November.

FSG was already present as an exhibitor at IVTExpo in June 2022, and again at all about automation at the end of September. During bauma in Munich, it became clear to FSG Fernsteuergeräte that the effort and preparations of the past months had paid off: Public interest was high at all trade fairs this year, existing contacts were renewed, and new ones were established. At the end of the year, the sensor technology specialists can look back on a successful year.

New impetus for railway technology

The InnoTrans trade fair for transport technology in Berlin was practically a home game for the company, which is headquartered in the German capital. FSG presented its Rotary Encoders and potentiometers, some of which have proven their worth millions of times over in rail vehicle construction, as well as its comprehensive range of foot pedals, Draw Wire Sensors, and joysticks. FSG's high level of vertical integration was a major topic of discussion for the trade visitors: This enables the company to respond quickly to individual special requests, even in times of critical supply chains. Internally, FSG can also consider InnoTrans a success, as all of the sensor technology specialist's apprentices had the opportunity to experience their company from a new perspective – its external presentation.

A glimmer of hope at bauma

At the world's leading trade fair for construction machinery and mining vehicles, FSG showcased its entire portfolio, including joysticks, foot pedals, and other operating devices for construction machinery. The latest version of the steering joystick for construction machinery with force feedback (model series LPR-2515-X-MH-II) and the LCD joystick attracted considerable interest. The new series of anemometers with integrated obstruction and hazard lights provided a truly striking highlight: FSG's unique design, featuring an LED light unit as the base for the cup-shaped star, solves the problem of shading that plagues conventional combination devices. The new AN-60-GF model with hazard lights is even ICAO-approved, allowing for use near or at airports.

FSG premieres at Smart Production Solutions (sps)

The world's first Draw Wire Sensor with electrically driven retraction caused a sensation at SPS. This innovative new model is designed for extremely high cycle life and features a unique cable break detection system. Also new to the product range is the SL00R series, with the "R" standing for robust: its key features are its compact dimensions and durable stainless steel housing. FSG received numerous inquiries for these two new additions to its Draw Wire Sensor range and will present the SL00R and the new electrically driven series in more detail in early 2023. Furthermore, as at bauma, the anemometers with LED obstruction/hazard lights and the LCD joystick with signal ring generated considerable interest.

The SPS trade fair was also an important meeting place for FSG's European sales partners. Here, they were able to familiarize themselves with the latest products in person for the first time in a long while and exchange ideas about the company's future goals and strategies.

From the perspective of sensor technology experts, the restart of trade fair operations after a two-year hiatus was a resounding success: the direct exchange with customers, partners, and prospective clients proved invaluable. The FSG team is already looking forward to the 2023 trade fair season.
