We are a leading supplier and manufacturer of measurement and sensor technology. The group develops joysticks, tilt sensors, and many other components for almost all industrial sectors. For 75 years, the company has concentrated its expertise at its headquarters in Berlin. Together with three other plants in Brandenburg and Hesse, FSG employs more than 500 people.

It is the end of an era: Klaus-Dieter Schulz, the long-time managing director of FSG Fernsteuergeräte, has passed away at the age of 83. With his unerring instinct for innovation and his tireless dedication, Klaus-Dieter Schulz led and significantly shaped the long-established company for over three decades.

As early as 1964, in the final phase of the German economic miracle, the Berlin native began his career at remote control equipment manufacturer Kurt Oelsch GmbH. In his role as a young design engineer and later as head of the design office and laboratory manager, he drove the innovative strength of the company, which had been founded in 1946.

Under his forward-thinking leadership, FSG not only expanded but also set crucial milestones in sensor technology. Klaus-Dieter Schulz paid particular attention to expansion in East Germany, where he was one of the first to recognize the potential in the late 1990s and invested in the Kablow and Zernsdorf sites (Dahme-Spree district). This foresight contributed significantly to these locations becoming some of FSG's most important development and production sites today.

As a deeply rooted supporter and promoter in the region, Klaus-Dieter Schulz provided not only economic but also social impetus. His decision to focus on an exceptionally high level of vertical integration and customer-specific sensor technology was groundbreaking. This strategic direction proved to be pivotal and established FSG as an indispensable system provider in all key industries. His influence particularly shaped sensor development in the construction machinery sector.

Schulz only fully withdrew from the business at the end of 2022, having already positioned his sons Carsten and Christian as his successors in management in 2003. However, his advisory influence and his principles of corporate governance remained in place.

He enjoyed the highest esteem among the workforce, not only as an entrepreneurial figure but also as a leader who valued collegiality and cohesion. His death leaves a void that cannot be filled. The grief within the FSG family is profound, but his legacy and philosophy will live on in the company.

Klaus-Dieter Schulz leaves behind a family who share his vision and will continue to shape the future of FSG in the spirit of his work. FSG Fernsteuergeräte mourns together with his family and friends and will remember him as an exceptional person who made a significant contribution to the development of the sensor technology industry.
