FSG Remote Control Devices was honored by Liebherr-MCCtec Rostock GmbH with the Supplier Award in the "Innovation" category for its ST 2020 series industrial joysticks. Liebherr's maritime division develops and manufactures ship cranes, mobile harbor cranes, offshore cranes, reach stackers, and components for container cranes. Thorsten Finke from FSG's technical sales department accepted the award at the 1st Maritime Supplier Day, hosted by Liebherr-MCCtec Rostock GmbH in autumn 2017. The Berlin-based company, specializing in measurement and sensor technology for mobile applications, developed the multifunctional handheld joysticks for use in crane cabins and marine applications in close collaboration with Liebherr-MCCtec. FSG had to meet stringent requirements regarding robustness, ergonomics, functionality, and flexible configuration. At the customer's request, the handle was designed to be variably configurable for different applications – without restrictions on the type and position of the control elements. FSG's solution consists of the ST 2020 joystick platform, whose grips can be equipped with up to ten control elements, such as grip and deadman buttons, rocker switches, and adjustment wheels, depending on the application. A mini-joystick on the top and a vibrator for haptic feedback are also integrated into the grips, which are available in versions with both left and right thumb rests. Further equipment options include capacitive grip sensors and grip heating. A customizable connector allows the joystick grips to be combined with any handheld control unit. Thanks to their robust design with IP67 protection and the perfect sealing of the cable glands, the joysticks can also be used outdoors without any problems, even outside of protective cabins.
