We are a leading supplier and manufacturer of measurement and sensor technology. The group develops joysticks, tilt sensors, and many other components for almost all industrial sectors. For 75 years, the company has concentrated its expertise at its headquarters in Berlin. Together with three other plants in Brandenburg and Hesse, FSG employs more than 500 people.
FSG Fernsteuergeräte has developed a new digital joint angle Rotary Encoder: The high-precision MH-CAN-II-G86 measures the angle of rotation between machine parts – for example, at the joint of an excavator – and transmits the values to the control system via a CAN bus interface (also with SAE J1939).
The outstanding features of the MH-CAN-II-G86 include its high repeatability of 0.05°, exceptional temperature stability, and immunity to external fields, making it insensitive to magnetic interference. Its sensor is also redundant, ensuring that the new device from FSG meets the highest demands for precision, safety, and reliability. The compact, robust design (IP67/IP69k) is ideal for demanding and harsh environments. The MH-CAN-II-G86 is specifically designed for use in construction machinery. Furthermore, the sensor's low-profile design eliminates the need for a drive shaft, allowing for installation in confined spaces.
Digital signal transmission, high immunity to extraneous fields
The new FSG articulated angle Rotary Encoder is the successor to the proven MH-II-MU-GS100, which is widely used, especially in excavators. With the MH-CAN-II-G86, FSG now fulfills customer demand for a digital articulated angle Rotary Encoder: The sensor communicates via a CAN bus interface using the SAE J1939 protocol. The advantages: improved output accuracy and more stable, interference-resistant signal transmission. The MH-CAN-II-G86 exhibits high immunity to external magnetic fields. Its high measurement accuracy is maintained even in environments with strong magnetic fields, such as those found in waste management, where excavators often operate near electromagnets.
High protection class, robust and compact design, precise measurement: Thanks to its features, the MH-CAN-II-G86 is suitable not only for classic construction machinery applications but also for any industrial and mobile machinery where reliable and space-saving angle measurement is required.
Strong customer interest at bauma 2025
At bauma 2025, the new digital sensor attracted considerable interest from trade visitors. FSG presented its broad portfolio of sensors, operating devices, and other products for the construction machinery industry at the leading trade fair and drew a positive conclusion: "We are in constant close contact with construction machinery manufacturers, and bauma is a valuable opportunity for us to engage in personal exchange," said Managing Director Christian Schulz. "The fact that we addressed customer demand for a digital model with the new articulated Rotary Encoder has been well received in the industry. We are delighted about this!"
FSG is already preparing for the next trade fairs. On the calendar is the iVT Expo in Cologne (June 11th and 12th, 2025), the leading trade fair for industrial and off-road vehicle technology.
