FSG remote control systems' cable-operated encoders are used worldwide in numerous industries, including industrial production facilities, construction machinery, vehicles and rail transport systems, and shipbuilding. A true mechanical masterpiece is the moving cable drum inside the SL3000: it ensures that the highly flexible steel cable rewinds cleanly and in a single layer when the spring pulls it back. Often copied, the moving cable drum, developed by FSG around 30 years ago, forms the core of the original.

With its robust design, the premium SL3000 series is engineered for industrial applications where maximum operational reliability is paramount. Numerous well-thought-out details contribute to this reliability. For example, the standard bellows at the rope exit prevents dust and dirt from entering the housing during winding. Should water ingress, which cannot be completely prevented, it drains away through openings on the underside. The housing is made of aluminum and is optionally available with a durable coating or in V4A stainless steel. Further special versions are also available for use in environments with specific safety requirements, such as explosion protection.

Three standard models with numerous options

The three standard models of the SL3000 differ in their cable length measuring capacity and housing dimensions (GS), which range from 80 x 80 to 190 x 190 millimeters. The smallest model currently available is the SL3000-GS80 cable-operated transducer with measuring lengths up to 3 meters, followed by the SL3000-GS130 with measuring lengths up to 30 meters. The largest model, the SL3000-GS190, enables measuring lengths up to 60 meters. All models share the highest measuring accuracy, from the shortest to the longest length.

Numerous variations are based on the standard product range, often developed in close consultation with customers, sometimes in small batches or even as one-off units. Once manufactured and in use, customers also have the option of subsequently modifying their device or retrofitting it with accessories if, for example, certain production conditions have changed.

Like all FSG cable-operated encoders, the premium SL3000 series can be equipped with a wide variety of sensors and extensive accessories, depending on the application and customer requirements. FSG's own Rotary Encoders and potentiometers are perfectly matched to the SL3000 series, offering a broad range of signal outputs and connection options (e.g., CAN, PROFINET, HART protocol, and many more). Furthermore, devices in the SL3000 series can also be fitted with all other commercially available encoders.
