FSG cable-extension encoders are used worldwide in a wide variety of industries as reliable sensors for measuring the length of linear motion sequences. They are used in construction machinery such as mobile cranes, in industrial production plants, and in the construction of rail vehicles and ships. Even the cost-effective SL00 Basic Series impresses with its exceptional precision.
In the three series (Premium, Compact, and Basic), the SL00 series models represent the entry point into the world of FSG cable-operated encoders. At first glance, they differ primarily in their slim design; furthermore, the housing of the SL00 Basic Series is made of highly durable plastic, while the models in the SL3000 (Premium) and SL0 (Compact) series have housings made of anodized aluminum as standard.
SL00 series cable-operated encoders are available with measuring lengths up to 10 meters. The measuring cable is coated with plastic, providing enhanced protection against dirt and thus extending its service life. SL00 Basic cable-operated encoders are typically installed inside systems or in other concealed and protected locations, so their housing does not need to be as impact-resistant as that of the other two series, Premium and Compact. Conversely, SL00 series cable-operated encoders are particularly lightweight and, thanks to their slim plastic housing, can be installed even in confined spaces.
Typical of FSG: high precision, versatile applications
With dimensions of just 55 millimeters (height and length) and a measuring length of up to 1.25 meters, the SL1250-GS55 is one of the smallest cable-operated encoders in the FSG portfolio, weighing a mere 80 grams (without the Rotary Encoder). Typical applications for the SL00 series include automated systems, support devices for mobile machinery, and work platforms used for bridge inspections or in shipbuilding. They are also used in medical and dental technology, for example, in electrically adjustable examination tables or treatment chairs.
In terms of precision, performance, and versatility, the SL00 Basic Series is in no way inferior to its "big sisters" and is one of the best-selling products in FSG's extensive range. It is perfectly suited for use with FSG's diverse range of Rotary Encoders, but can also be combined with common Rotary Encoders from other manufacturers as well as other accessories. The SL00 standard program, comprising four models, forms the basis for the almost countless variations with which FSG fulfills individual customer requirements – a specialty of the sensor experts from Berlin. Thanks to a high level of vertical integration of 90 percent, the manufacturer is also able to produce virtually all components of a special version in-house within a short time. In-house measuring and testing facilities, as well as comprehensive quality control, ensure that the products always leave the factory in perfect condition.
