As reliable sensors for measuring the length of linear motion sequences, cable-extension encoders are indispensable. FSG remote control units offer three standard series of cable-extension encoders to meet the diverse application possibilities in a wide variety of environments.

The robust, premium SL3000 series with an aluminum housing (V4A stainless steel optional) is designed for industrial applications, with measuring lengths up to 60 meters. A mechanical masterpiece is the movable cable drum inside the housing: it ensures that the cable rewinds cleanly when the spring pulls it back. The SL3000 is a bestseller and sets the recognized standard for cable-operated encoders in terms of accuracy, quality, and durability – the original from FSG remote control devices.

Designed for measuring lengths up to 15 meters, the more affordable Compact series SL0 features a robust housing made of anodized aluminum, like its larger counterpart, but lacks a movable measuring drum. Consequently, the SL0 models are narrower compared to the SL3000 series. They come standard with a bellows on the cable extension for dust and corrosion protection.

The SL00 (Basic) series completes the product range as a compact yet highly precise and, above all, cost-effective solution with measuring lengths up to 10 meters. Thanks to their durable plastic housing and slim design, these cable-operated transducers are particularly lightweight and can be installed even in confined spaces.

Always the right solution

This standard program forms the basis for the almost countless variations with which FSG remote control units can fulfill individual customer requirements – even in small series or as single units. The range extends from specific materials (V4A stainless steel, aluminum, plastic) or special colors for the housing to special versions such as the SL5 (Heavy Duty) model. This makes FSG cable-pull encoders suitable for use under harsh conditions such as heavy contamination, extreme heat or cold, corrosion from seawater, near high-voltage power lines, or in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Originally, FSG cable-operated encoders in all series were equipped as standard with their own potentiometers or rotary encoders, offering a wide range of signal outputs, connection and combination options (e.g., CAN, PROFINET, HART protocol and others). However, all FSG remote control cable-operated encoders can now also be combined with rotary encoders from other manufacturers and with other accessories.

The experts at FSG Fernsteuergeräte not only possess the necessary know-how to find the best solution in every case: thanks to a high level of vertical integration (90 percent), the manufacturer is also able to produce virtually all components of a special version (including electronic components) in-house within a short time.
