In close collaboration with customers, FSG developed a wind sensor with an integrated LED obstruction light. This not only saves space in confined areas at the highest point of cranes or similar structures, but also offers the advantages of reduced installation and maintenance effort, improved visibility, and higher accuracy, as the two devices are no longer affected by wind or light shadows. Additionally, costs are reduced because only one component is required. ICAO-compliant and universally applicable, the wind sensor with obstruction light has an IP66 protection rating and meets all relevant regulations and standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as well as the General Administrative Regulation for the Marking of Aviation Obstacles (AVV). Therefore, it can be used without restriction for marking aviation obstacles such as cranes, wind turbines, or buildings. Its use is recommended wherever both components are used together. The red obstruction light achieves a luminous intensity of 10 or 32 cd (red), and the magnetic wind sensor measures wind speeds from 0 to 50 m/s. The combination is powered by 18-33 VDC, and analog signals or a CAN bus are available as signal outputs. Electrical connection is via M12 connectors, and mechanical mounting is achieved via a flange with 3 x M6 fasteners. Durable technology for all weather conditions: The wind sensor with obstruction light is designed for crane mounting or use on booms and is always held in an upright measuring position thanks to a pendulum. For mounting on stationary objects, the wind sensor can also be supplied with a central mounting bracket. Three robust wind cups and two redundant, long-life LED arrays ensure stable operation over the long term. FSG has incorporated an electronically controlled shaft heater to prevent freezing and ice buildup, which activates at temperatures below 5°C.
