For simultaneous angle and tilt measurement, e.g., on Draw Wireing systems and in cable drums, the sensor specialist FSG has developed the MH64-II-CAN/Mems/GS65 series special Rotary Encoder. This magnetic multiturn Rotary Encoder is equipped with a redundant Hall sensor for angle measurement of up to 64 revolutions and also features a redundant single-axis Inclination Sensor that detects tilt angles from 0° to 360°. Without an internal gearbox, the sensor can also be used as a single-turn Rotary Encoder. Both the angle and Inclination Sensors have a signal resolution of 14 bits and are primarily intended for use in construction machinery, reach stackers, mobile elevating work platforms, and ship and port cranes. Signal output is via a CAN bus interface using the CANopen or CANopen safety protocol. This makes the sensor suitable for safety-critical applications. The GS65 form factor devices achieve IP67 protection. The electrical connection can be made either via M12 connector or cable.
